High bidder from Hong Kong. [whistle.gif] just sayin…

Have you ever seen a wine for sale at auction that does not say this:
“Stored in temperature & humidity controlled wine cellar.”

damn … was hoping this was a mis-post not in NSFW

Look at that case. 10 bottles with lower fills, Grape Expectations import stickers. Then 2 bottles with higher fills with Premier Cru import stickers. Tain’t an original case for sure. As to whether any are fake, who knows.

Good eye… I didn’t check the finer details. Why would anyone risk buying this for $36k???

That bidder has overbid me numerous times in the last 6 week or so. They must be paying if WineBid is letting them continue to bid. To answer Gene’s question I have seen wines listed as stored in a passive cellar. I don’t even consider bidding on those unless the cellar is in France and has Chateau in the title…

That is soooo solid! And the OWC but yet not the original bottles…

Horribly common. While not fraudulent, the “OWC” claim is usually overstated…

I love how all the bottles in the group shot are the perfect fills with Bordeaux Wine Locators tags. But only two of those per dozen… That’s weak at the least, perhaps misrepresentation. You bid on the group…but you don’t get that group.

Any buyer who, at this point & with all the info out there - buys super expensive wine without going and looking at it/having it inspected is asking for trouble. The houses have to let you see the wines prior to purchase. At least require individual pics if you are unsure…

There has to be some responsibility of the buyer. Especially now that all this crap is more widely known.

I don’t fault WineBid. THey have two pictures. Look at them both. The condition is very clear.

That buyer from Hong Kong bids on everything… He must spend $20,000 a week on wine. I’ve seen him bid on the worst looking bottles with horrible fills, he just doesn’t care.

WOW - I have heard of this practice before…
