Tasting room. No actual wineries on Sonoma square.

I might recommend Hanzell for a vineyard experience near the Sonoma Square. Historic, beautiful, and super wines.

PS - Always happy to host Berserkers in Windsor - just a tasting room - but we do pour that state in terms of Pinot. –

Just a few bottles of Hanzell left here in Mexico. Cherished wine.

Tasting room. They are our neighbors and I highly highly recommend their wines. Tom is making some of the best Chard in CA right now.

We look forward to having you in!

Thank you so much!! This is super helpful. We have an appointment at Hamel but I would love to add another vineyard tasting in the area. Hanzell doesn’t have availability - bummer! Can you recommend another vineyard nearby? Thanks again!

The rest that I’d highly recommend are tasting rooms. I have heard that Coursey-Graves is a beautiful property but I haven’t been and I’ve only had one of their wines (which I thought was :+1:).

If you were planning on going to Valley and haven’t made a reservation, you may want to jump on that. They were just nominated for a James Beard award for Best Chef(s) West.

Although I am less knowledgable than some of the esteemed sources who have already weighed in, I echo the Hanzell rec for the wine and the views. Had a great experiece there last year on an afternoon trio up from SF.

And we had lunch at Molino Central, which we do pretty much every time we’re in the vicinity of Sonoma. Man, I love that place.

Absolutely. We ate well during our entire trip last year, but Q&C’s parm & onion biscuit is one of the things I still think about.

Just an FYI, they’ve moved from their original small location to a much larger space a couple hundred yards north. You can turn left into it from Healdsburg Ave going north, but the small entrance is easy to miss, and the best way is to get into the new roundabout and out on Mill Street, then the immediate left into the parking area. You can do an online pre-order, which I highly recommend, as a lot of stuff sells out.

Also, don’t miss their sister place, Troubador, half a block north of the square. They sell breads there, cookies, and a selection of interesting and tasty sandwiches.

Last time we were in Sonoma, we booked a tasting at Ceritas and were blown away. I’ve purchased every offering since.

The Hirsch tasting room is walking distance from Ceritas, making a nice follow-up.

If in Healdsburg, Troubador bakery had some phenomenal sandwiches, and had a pop-up dinner service that was well worth the price and allowed us to carry-in a library bottle from one of our tastings.

For Sonoma proper, I’d echo the recommendations for Glen Ellen Star.
