is that wine bar in your house?
No, but soon hopefully!
It is quite nice and I should perhaps get more to reevaluate given that high praise. Briords is generally #1 white QPR for me, though I have a few others that rival for my personal tastes.
I like Briords, too. But, for me, the Kloof St. is better. I’d love to see how the Kloof St. ages, but I’ve never been able to keep my hands off
Looking medium deep and middle aged. Really interesting nose; leads with cedar/pencil/graphite; backed up by dark fruit, mulberry, cherries, blackcurrant; with floral tones, not good on these, perhaps iris? And earth and undergrowth.
Medium full body, acidity then slight tannin, wrapped in chocolate and fruits. Really long aftertaste, at least 30 seconds.
Perhaps slightly better on the nose than in the mouth. For less than £20 this is excellent, I have another and wish I had more.
Late to the party here but Storm is distributed in Dallas and it is wonderful pinot noir. I agree that it leans French in that it has more meaty, sous bois savory and earthy notes with a lovely bright profile. It’s very well made wine.
Thanks guys, I haven’t drank South African wines in about 15 years when we had a couple of DC Winos that would bring a few ringers here and there. I’m going to pickup some Mullineux and Raats for an upcomming barbeque. Will report back.

If you’re in LA, Culture Wine Co is running a seminar on the 26th
You will still find red wines perfectly fit for barbeque, but SA has now much more to offer with reds that have such a finesse, that they match very well with fish dishes. Enjoy!
We brought this back from the property about 18 months ago.
Excellent cedar and dark fruit cabernet blend. If you had told me this was a Bordeaux from a good vintage I would have believed you, not unlike a grand bourgeois.
Opened a few of the 21/22 Mullineux Kloof Street. Very high quality for the price and eminently enjoyable. Great add to the daily drinker stash.
Just back from a month of self drive safari in Botswana. Started in Pretoria and bought supplies before crossing the border.
Was very impressed by the wines in South Africa. There wasn’t a bottle that I didn’t appreciate. Here’s a list of some of the wines I drank.
Purchased at Makro (South Africa Costco) and Vee and Forti. Vee and Forti is a great shop, but a little pricey…

Nice report as always from Neal Martin on Vinous.
Just by reading you can feel that he has more fun there than in Bordeaux or Burgundy. Can’t blame him.
The Usual Suspects are up in the list: Lismore, Sadie Family, Chris Alheit, Mullineux…
39 wines have a 95 or + score.
Interesting reading in his prose about what can we expect now. The quality is now too obvious to be ignored, but much consolidation remains to be done to strengthen the foundations of a future that must be bright.
