Some later 1990's cab pleasantries...

Over the weekend, I was sorting in the cellar and cut open a neglected box, so we popped open a 1998 Miner Family cab and a 1996 Pezzi King cab.

I was astounded by both!

Both are ready right now.

The Pezzi King was exactly how I hoped it would taste - Cali cab with remaining fruit and structure and a velvety mouth feel - with a killer long finish. K&L has it for 30 bucks - a bargain for how pleasant it was.

The Miner Family tasted as if it were the older of the two, but had a wider variety of older cab flavors - with more pain grille. Ripe tasting, with current and faint faint cherry nots. It had the earthy tobacco/leather notes I like, as well. K&L has this now for 40 bucks and would pay that without a complaint. The caveat is your palate has to be of a kind that likes the “older” Cali cab flavor profile.

(Heh heh, I said pain grille.)
