Had a very nice (and large) selection of predominatly dry Donnhoff wines with Cornelius Donnhoff in Singapore last night, these were my favourites:
2010 Hermann Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshohle Riesling Grosses Gewachs
Intense citurs aromas, loads of stony minerality showing the slate soil. Its laser focused, intense and crisp. The focus and acid edge on this wine is really quite unique, and compelling. I really enjoy this wine, its a buy for me. Needs another 5 years to start to fleshen out.95/100
2009 Hermann Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshohle Riesling Grosses Gewachs
THis wine tends more towards the tropical fruit spectrum as compared to the 2010. You can really see the warm year on display here, ripe nose, palate is richer and rounder, but still the trademark minerality. An excellent wine, but my leaset favourite of the three. 92/100
2008 Hermann Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshohle Riesling Grosses Gewachs
This wine is an excellent fusion of both the 10 and 09, it is in a way, the most complete wine (whereas the 10 is the most unique). It has ripeness and precision in spades, beautiful elegance and precision, its like a well balanced ballet dancer. A wine that is drinking beautifully now but will gracefully age. Excellent example of this terroir. 95/100
2010 Hermann Donnhoff Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Eiswein A P #31
This is going to be sold in the Auction this year, so somewhat of a preview. It is simply a majestic eiswein. The purity, focus, precision and crystalline quality of this wine are simply breathtaking. Yes its a sweet wine, but it has such laser focus and incredible presence. A legend in the making. 100pts
