“Small Green Tomato“ Recipe Request

Hi…

I have also posted this request on the Squire’s BB, but want to see if I could get some better ideas from folks here.

we have just cut back and pulled our tomato plants for the winter…as it has begun to rain here in Seattle
we have many small 2-4 inch unripe tomatoes which are too small to fry…

I would appreciate some ideas and recipes how we can cook them…they are really nice…but will never ripen now…(as I am writing…perhaps a brown paper bag so some might ripen)
but anyhow, any recipe suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you so much,

I’ve never done them myself, but I absolutely love pickled green tomatoes. 2-4 inches sounds about right.

Fried green tomatoes. Slice them, salt and pepper them, dredge them in flour, egg and bread crumbs or cornmeal, and fry them up.

thank you so much for the pickling idea…
i will check on the recipe…

Jeff…they are too small to cut and fry…
(Hey Dude, BTW… we sent you an Evite…
did you not see it? …hope you can make it)

“Too small to fry” is not a concept I can get my head around.

Robert,

First, if I may say, your comment sounds like something right out of Mark Twain
(Hey, BTW, did you have a chance to see the fantastic one man show that Hal Holbrook did a good while back?)…

Second, these tomatoes are so small, that after I fried em, I’d need a crab-meat picker to eat them

I had also posted on the Squire’s BB, and a suggestion for green tomato relish was given, which I’d like to try

before I added this post I realized that perhaps I have been incorrect in ID ing your avatar…
so if it isn’t MT, it should be [basic-smile.gif]
