Im looking at buying a bottle through an online consignor and it appears to have a slightly lifted cork. I asked the seller to confirm, and they did confirm it was slightly elevated, but not enough to warrant a note on the sale page. Would you consider that unusual on a 35 year old bottle?
Unusual? Probably not. Perfect provenance? No.

Well . . . there are many wines that have slightly protruding corks done at the bottling line itself. There is no way to know for sure . . .
Which simply makes this situation ‘challenging’.
