What a great QPR. Charvin is top 3 producers in the region for my palate and a great guy ta boo ta boot. Never knew this wine existed until I saw it on a shelf. For $14 I’ll try anything Laurent Charvin makes and in 2007 it’s a no brainer.
Fascinating blend of Merlot mostly and Grenache - wtf? Anyway, great structure and grippy ripe tannins - pure fruit. Solid acidity. Has that typical green element of Merlot, but also the spice and strawberry of Grenache (the Grenache seems to come through more than its 20% pro rata share). Much more than we should expect at this price point and a solid recession wine.
I’ll even go as far as saying it’s as good as 1992 Haut-Brion at any price.
