So good to see you the other day Sonoe! Was great to taste the 2022 Buf Wehr Pinot and Castanon Zin, as I wasn’t sure whether they would be ready. Happy to see them in a good early drinking window now!

Thank you @Vincent_Fritzsche for grabbing my 2023! I’m good friends with @AkikoShiba and we discussed how our vintages were almost reversed — 2023 was hot in Oregon while ours was very cool. We exchanged our wines but not let to try them… I would love to hear your feeback. Hope you enjoy them all. Cheers!

I would recommend the Chardonnay set for you since you are Six Cloves Chardonnay fan  Otherwise Zinfandel set would be also great to compare the vintage difference!

Yes, it was a fitting finish to a great trip!

Oh nice… really hope it works out, I think your wine would be a match made in heaven with their food!

I wanted to take a moment to share the story behind the name Beni Chōji blend available during this event, since a few people have asked — and I really enjoy being able to explain this!

The name ties directly back to my brand, Six Cloves, which is a literal translation of Mutus Chōji — my family crest that has been used for generations. Many people have commented that my brand name doesn’t immediately reveal my background, and that’s true  So I wanted this wine to reflect more of my personal story as a Japanese woman making wine here in California.
Mutsu-choji

Beni” means crimson red, and “Chōji” means clove — together, Beni Chōji expresses my connection to my heritage and the origins of Six Cloves, honoring both tradition and personal story.

Label design has always been one of my favorite parts of the process — or maybe it’s just part of winemaking itself for me. I collaborate closely on all my labels with my Japanese designer, Misaki, who recently visited me here in California. Just like the wines, these labels evolve vintage by vintage, reflecting care, precision, and attention to detail. I hope everyone enjoys our labels in addition to this new design!

As for the wine itself:
Beni Chōji is a casual, food-friendly red blend crafted from Alder Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir plus a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma Valley — all organically farmed.
This blend came together from two barrels that didn’t quite make the cut for my main Cabernet lot (which I’ll release this fall), but I found that its savory-woody character was brightened up beautifully with a touch of fresh, vibrant Cab and I really love the result!

A technical note for those who love the details: Alder Springs Pinot Noir tends to lose color naturally, and with my use of whole-cluster fermentation for most of red varieties, the wine shows a lovely pale ruby hue, bright, fresh, and savory. Like many of my wines, it will likely feel a little grippy when young, but I hope to see it evolving gracefully at the table!

I hope everyone enjoy my new release!

Dear Berserker Friends,

Thank you so much for your patience as our harvest is in full swing here in wine country. Shipping for our VinDependence Day orders has been delayed due to the ongoing harvest and the occasional late-season heatwaves and cool days. I truly appreciate your understanding as I balance the excitement of harvest with getting your wines to you in the best possible condition!

I plan to begin shipping California orders in October. My fall Wine Club announcement—featuring four wines from the 2024 vintage—will be coming in early October, along with more detailed updates on shipments.

A quick note from the vineyards: 2025 has been a challenging yet exciting growing season. We’ve experienced a cool spring and summer, sudden heat spikes, and now a significant amount of rain in the forecast next week. Despite these swings, Six Cloves has already harvested our beloved Alder Springs Pinot Noir. We’re also thrilled to be bringing in Grenache for the first time, as well as a rare Swiss white variety, Petit Arvine—in fact, those grapes are being picked as I write this tonight!

Stay tuned on Instagram for fun harvest updates—I can’t wait to share more behind-the-scenes moments with you!: @sixcloveswines.

Thank you again for your support and for waiting just a little longer for your shipment.

Cheers and Happy Harvest!!

Food looks killer

Hi fellow Berserkers!

I’m getting ready to ship your Six Cloves VinDependence Day order this week finally— thank you again for your support during my very first VinDependence event this summer! It was so inspiring to share my wines with so many new people who love discovering small, independent producers.

I’m also in the final stretch of harvest here in Sonoma County — my new casual Grenache from Alder Springs Vineyard is ready to be pressed this week! We’re getting a substantial amount of rain, and it finally feels like real fall has arrived. The winery smells like fermenting fruit and wet earth — one of my favorite times of year.

Before your box goes out, I wanted to offer you a quick option:

If you’d like to add a few bottles to your upcoming shipment, I’d be happy to include them with a $15 flat-rate shipping fee.

Most of the orders are going out in 6-bottle boxes, so if you’d like to make it a full 12-bottle case or adjust your mix, now’s a perfect time.

You can explore both current releases here:

:point_right: sixcloveswines.com/shop-ca

If you’d like to add to your order, please check what’s available and just reply to this email or send me a quick message, and I’ll add them to your order and will make sure everything ships together.

The 2024 vintage wines will be available later this month for club members only.

The new lineup includes:

:lemon: 2024 Linda Vista Vineyard Chardonnay $54 – farmed by Steve Matthiasson in Napa Valley

:cherries: 2024 Alder Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir $62 – from Stuart Bewley’s organically farmed vineyard in Mendocino

:wine_glass: 2024 Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon $46 – from Shaunt & Diego of Les Lunes Wines

If you’re interested in joining the Six Cloves Wine Club to acquire these new releases, please sign up here — I’ll be happy to include your club shipment together with your VinDependence order:

Thank you again for being part of Six Cloves and for supporting small, organically farmed wines

Yes. You probably saw that I added to my VIndependence Day purchase to round out a case.

I just can’t take in everything I want but I’ll be back for the casual Grenache later. As always I’ll add some Linda Vista Chard (can’t miss that!) when I do.

Thanks, @JohnMag! I think the 2024 Linda Vista will be really nice again, though it may need a little time to start showing its best, as usual. I just pressed the 2025 Grenache from Alder Springs Vineyard last week. Planning to release a bit earlier than usual this time, and I hope to do a pre-sale around the next BD days. Cheers!
