Thanks.
I’d say - no.
I think it was Burt Williams who said that he prefers California Pinot at 8 years of vintage date.
I really can’t argue with that - my experience with 06 and younger PN’s have seen me wanting more out of the wines than what they gave.
Can’t speak for Copain but the Littorai are best left alone - vineyard designates, that is.
I had an 06 Littorai Roman 6 months ago that was awesome. Had much youth to it and I could see upside, but was fantastic right now.
Haven’t had an 07.
Opened a Littorai Les Larmes yesterday. Great earthy nose, but pretty closed on the palate. Opened up after about 4 hours, but I think it needs another year or two. Haven’t touched any of the SVs yet. I do think the 2006s are drinking well now, although there is no rush.
'06 Littorai has been strikingly precocious. Their '07s, however, I think are for the long haul.
Purchased and drank the '07 Littorai Cerise at a restaurant recently. It was terrific. Storage at room temp might have had something to do with that though. Haven’t touched an '07 Copain in a while.
There have been plenty of notes recently on '07 Copain PNs. If you have a few, it might not be a bad idea to open a Kiser “en Bas”. It is a fantastic wine showing extremely well at the moment (although I suspect it will continue to evolve for years). While “ready” is in the eye of the beholder and it would be hard to defend the position that this particular wine is at its absolute, optimal drinking spot (I mean, who really knows?), it is a hell of a wine now.
