Shiba Wichern Cellars - Oregon Pinot noir, Auxerrois & Sparkling

Oh, and I totally forgot to guess. I don’t think chardonnay was picked yet. Why not?

I just ordered, can’t wait to receive them! We went to your very first little spot when you were making wine behind Bells Up!
As to a white varietal that you may be planting I’m guessing Aligote?

Cheers!

Whew! Thanks for the orders Berserkers! Thank you, @larryJF @Sean_T @Lou_Recupero @Darien_T @Brian_Young @Adam_Frisch @LeandraG @He1d1_Gamel_gaard for playing the guessing game too!

Some very interesting guesses, but still no one has gotten the bonus grape. There are still a handful of field blend grapes that haven’t been guessed yet either.

Thanks @Vincent_Fritzsche! I waved as I drove past the house on the way through MAC.

Ah, yes, the 'Medici Days." Some memorable times there. Glad we got to spend some time there, but even happier to be in our own spot now!

I’m a big fan of Lambrusco and ordered 3 pack of the sparking red. This will be my first time trying your wines and I’m looking forward to it

Forgot my pick. How about trousseau?

GAME UPDATE - SEVEN of the TWELVE varietals have been guessed. That means that there are FOUR more free bottles and the BONUS prize left.

I mean I’d drink anything you cats grow with such care…but has anyone gone in on Chasselas?

Hmm. I don’t know. Not us. Although, it looks like it may be found around Baden. I’ll ask Akiko if we she bumped into any while working there.

Speaking of bumps and varietals, Berserkers… no one has guessed the bonus varietal. I’ll bump this to the top and leave the contest open for a little while longer…

In for 6 2021 Willamette Cuvée :wine_glass:
Many varieties have been mentioned, but I don’t see Pinot Noir, so that will be my guess.

This was our 4th Berserkers Day and it did not disappointment. We heard back from lots of repeaters and have gotten to meet lots of new folks too. We are thrilled that the repeaters enjoyed our wines enough to come back. We are honored that the new folks are willing to give us a try. We hope you all enjoy.

THE WINNERS

  1. @Rich_K0rz_nk0 - Riesling
  2. @Dave_H - Gruener Veltliner
  3. @dee_b - “frauburgunder” - this deserves special mention. I really hope you wrote it that way on purpose and even it was typo, lie to me and tell me it was intentional…
  4. @Andy_Kohl - Gewuerztraminer
  5. @pfanning - Savignin - we call it Traminer, but Jancis tells us that Savignin blanc and Traminer are synonyms…huh.
  6. @Michelle_Regin - Pinot blanc
  7. @Chris_Blum - Pinot meunier
  8. @Brian_Young - Pinot gris (technically, this was already guessed, but because of the “typo” in the first guess we’ll take this one too…)
  9. @Scott_K1 - Chardonnay
  10. @Mariano_Chiaramonte - Pinot noir

I will be refunding the value of bottle of wine to each of you in the list above.

There are still three varietals un-guessed at this point. (10 winners, but only 9 distinct varietals guessed…) Anyone want to try for double or nothing? Or should I just post up the remaining three?

Btw, here is the 2022 Havlin Auxerrois going into bottle LAST NIGHT and the team of heroes that made it happen.

We can close the door between the winery and the garage. So, technically we are not a garage-winery, right?

Akiko (with the dog) and I are lucky to have incredible friends and family to help with this project.

Technically correct, the best kind of correct

That’s going to be a wonderful vineyard to watch grow and enjoy over the years. It was nice to visit last year to see the start. Can I call dibs on the Savagnin and Pinot Blanc now?

YAY! Excited for winning the free bottle - my double or nothing pick is Rotgipfler

Not quite on the Rotgipfler, but definitely not too far off for two of the remaining three…

We will be shutting this down on Monday morning (Jan 29) at around 6:00 am PST.

Thanks for the all orders! If you have been hesitating or waiting for the Amex-card to cool down, now there’s a deadline. :expressionless:

I was kind of confused for a second, but then figured out the typo. Grauburgunder. Although when I googled frauburgunder, google listed fruhburgunder as the result. Thanks for the free bottle!

I love Frühburgunder! In 2023 I made a Frühburgunder Rose with Peter Leipold in Franken.

Pardon the interruption - a little humor seemed right at the time - afterall, it was a beserkers (unruly type?) day.

So, how about a minerally Vermentino (aka pigato/rolle)?

Thanks for the gift bottle offer, Chris.

Really enjoy the Shiba Wichern wines purchased in the past.

Wouldn’t that translate as “Woman from Burgundy”?
