Tonght’s 48th anniversary dinner was Churro lamb shoulder chops, seasoned with granulated garlic, Blood Orange Olive Oil, and garlic pepper; and pan-grilled, since it was raining. Veggie was minted baby green peas with chopped garlic, cooked n sugared water, and finished with Kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and butter. Wine was a 2001 Chave Hermitage - poured into our old Hermitage glasses (today’s Grande Bourgogne glasses) though a Vinturi - Cork barely touched, good ruby color, with initially hard tannins, softened with time and swirling, adequate acidity, and with time a long complex fruity finish.
Then for dessert we had milk chocolate for Carollee and dark chocolate for me with a Carollee’s birth year 1934 Cossart-Gordon Verdehlo Madeira. Neither chocolate was really good with the old Madeira, but Carollee’s Milk Chocolate was better.
