Saw this evening that this week’s SF Chronicle “Winemakers to Watch” (they’re profiling one or two each week in early January) are Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Roberts of Arnot-Roberts: Winemakers to watch: Arnot-Roberts Another nice choice by writer Jon Bonné following last week’s profile of Jason Drew (Winemaker to watch: Jason Drew). Both wineries that are pretty much under the radar but deserving of more attention. Looking forward to seeing who’ll be profiled next week.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately.
With such excellent wine “reporters” such as Eric Asimov, Mike Steinberger, and Jon Bonne (not to mention Jancis at FT) are we entering an era where newspaper wine writers will have greater influence? Maybe not as much as top critics, but pushing towards that (or balancing it).
I don’t have an answer, just a question.
