SF Bay Area – anyone up for hosting a Rhône vs. California Rhône Rangers tasting?

Hi all,

I’m a Dutch wine student currently in San Francisco, working on my WSET Diploma D7 research project on the Rhône Valley vs. California’s Rhône Rangers.

I’ve put together a small comparative tasting with wines from both sides, including Tablas Creek and Rhône examples, and would love to share it with a group of fellow wine enthusiasts while I’m still here.

I can bring the wines and give a short introduction/comparative tasting, what I’m missing is a venue, glasses, and 8–12 curious wine people.

I’m in the Bay Area only until the end of September, so this would need to happen fairly soon. I’m flexible on Mon/Tue/Wed evenings, either in SF or elsewhere in the Bay Area.

Would anyone here be interested in hosting or joining or know an existing tasting group I could connect with?

Marie-José

If you’re only including Tablas Creek you’re missing a lot of very good wine out of Paso that would be a good comparison in your tasting.

Ha! definitely not all Tablas Creek! They’re just one part of the California side. There are a few different comparisons in the line-up. :slightly_smiling_face:

You saw this group?

Even has some Dip WSET people in it IIRC.

Thank you Uli!

As far as glasses go, it’s normal for each person to bring their own. (How many wines per flight is therefore a helpful piece of information.) If you need to borrow some for yourself, someone can probably bring extra.

Hi Wes, thats sounds good, theres 4 flights of 2 (2 whites and 2 reds).

Im thinking about Sept. 24,25, 28 or 29th. Who would like to host/ join?
