Does anyone havr any experience with this? If it is accurate it sure would be convenient, as shipping samples is expensivd and a long turn around time for me out here in the wildreness. Thanks in advance
We have been using them for a few years and have worked closely with their (former) team to help them work to better their algorithm. What I would say is FSO2 is good enough unless you are extremely extremely particular, on average we saw plus or minus 5ppm. They make it extremely clear that they are measuring Acetic Acid not VA, so if you compare to ETS (what is standardish in Napa) they are not consistent but can be used as a tool. The buffers are a wild card and are limited with how accurate your micropipette is but an added layer of accuracy with an already okay metric for analysis. Overall, a very useful tool for FSO2, would not give a high endorsement for any other strips. An item of note is that they were just sold and distribution has not been been active in the US and resellers are not selling strips until they get new pricing from the ownership group. Hope this helps!
Thanks Sam. I just saw the other thread on the distribution and change of ownership issue. Went ahead and bought one from Vinmetrica. They have strips in stock now and the guy says the issues have been ironed out. Im stoked. This is going to be a game changer for my winery. Do you still send final samples to ETS before bottling?
Our protocol was for upkeep Sentia was fine, but threw in the occasional sample to ETS for a sanity check. Absolutely sped up production time and is pretty simple to use. Depending on wine production stuff if we did any blending we would send to ETS and pre bottling sent to ETS, only when it really counts, but for upkeep Sentia worked well.
Unless you specifically request cash still, ETS also measures VA as acetic acid.
That was my thinking and plan too. Thanks for the advice.
