Selling Wine For Charity

Will do. Thanks again.

:+1:t3:

Yeah, I’m about to start the Zoom online session with Marcus Goodfellow, but I have time tomorrow - email me at todd@wineberserkers.com with a phone number and some available times

How do we find-out about these Zoom sessions? I would have liked to join this one!

It was posted on the main forum, great event!

Actually, it was posted in Event Planner, as it was an event!

As other said, get your own advice, but the simple and main issue (that none of us needs a tax attorney for) is that:

(1) You can “sell” the wines to people in exchange for them making the donation, in which case the buyer gets the charitable tax deduction; or

(2) You can sell the wines to people for cash, and then you donate the cash to the charity, and then you get the charitable tax deduction.

Assuming everyone is paying taxes and itemizing, it’s a significant difference. Even more so for people in states with state income taxes.

That, in turn, ought to probably affect what “sale price” you agree to. A rational buyer would agree to a higher price if he’s going to get the charitable deduction, and a lower one if he’s not.
