Agree. Adding to the confusion is that some of the individual winery listings indicate “California resident” or “California ID,” but others indicate “Napa neighbors“ or “valid Napa County ID.“
Enough ambiguity to keep non-Napa folk away, I’d say.
Also, assuming this is, in fact, an offer just for Napa residents, what constitutes a “Napa Valley resident?” For example, if I live near Lake Berryessa (Napa County, but not the Valley), am I still a welcome “neighbor?”
Lastly, a “locals only“ exclusivity is a weird flex indeed for a region already perceived as dauntingly exclusive.
I thought I saw an announcement within the last few days that they are opening this up to all California residents for a limited time. The confusion might be that some of these just list, Napa or surrounding counties only. And that is what this usually is.

These are offers normally extended to Napa Locals by some NVV member wineries. For the month of January, some wineries are extending their offers to residents of California (you just show a valid CA drivers license). Some wineries require reservations, some don’t. We ask for a reservation for staffing purposes.
