Will be taking some. Want to make sure Im in for one last hurrah next year
22 vintage?
Yes, 22 vintage. They made GTS and NLS this year. Magnums of GTS sold out immediately
In Tomās book, Pitching with Tom Seaver, he wrote āLuck is a beautiful thing to have on your side⦠if you work hard and do your own job well, youāll be able to take advantage of your luck.ā (Seaver and Jacobson, 1973, pg.110) We open with this because the 2022 vintage was a tricky one. It was colder than usual at the beginning of the season and hotter than usual at the end. The saving grace for us, as it has been in every other year like this, is our Diamond Mountain location. And as such, we did not experience fruit set issues and we did not sustain much damage from the heat either. Luck. And we like to think maybe some providence too.
This coupled with the incredible breadth of experience and hard work of our winemaker gave us two wines that have the hallmarks of depth, complexity, and elegance that weāve come to expect from our vineyard. The color of both the 2022 GTS and NLS are inky and rich and the mouthfeel is rounded and supple. The freshness and subtle floral notes of both wines (the NLS especially so) are a lovely compliment to the more serious notes they each possess. They are well structured, which you would expect from a vintage like 2022, but also beautifully balanced and refined. The only downside of this vintage was its size, being one of the smaller vintages weāve produced to date.
As we tell the story of the 2022 vintage, we remember that this is one thing that Tom loved so much about growing grapes - that every vintage is a journey and has a unique story to tell. Even if there are similarities between vintages, they are never exactly the same. Nature makes sure of that. Vineyard management opens the story with the myriad decisions made from winter to harvest in service of cultivating the best grapes possible. Then winemaking takes over crafting a story of careful grape selection, endless tastings, thoughtful blending to allow the vintage to truly express itself, and more than a little patience to shepherd the juice to bottle. The resulting bottle of wine is not only an encapsulation of all of these moments it took to get it there but itās also a snapshot of the decision to bottle on the day we did. Had we bottled earlier or later, how would the wine be different? Finally, the journey and story arc completes with you; when you choose to open these bottles and the contribution you make to the expression of the wine. Itās magical, really, and we continue to feel so lucky to be a part of it.
We are so proud to share our 2022 vintage with you. Donāt hesitate to reply to this email if you have any questions or need any help placing your order and we thank you for your continued support!
All of us at Seaver Vineyards
After being asked for years they finally made a run of ball caps like the one Tom wore. If you are on the list they are available now. Will go quickly Iām sure
Anybody pick up any of the library wines offered today? I passed .
I wasnāt on the list, curious, what were prices?
Reasonable. $170
Iāve got plenty. Passed. Will likely buy one more vintage then done
Just got the postcard in the mail to save the date for 23 vintage release on January 21st.
It says no NLS this year just GTS as they blended all clones into the GTS. Also said 2023 is the smallest vintage they ever produced so allocations will be very small. I passed last year but hopefully Iāll get some
FYI, I ended up with an extra Seaver Vineyards ball cap as pictured above. Still brand new with tag in box if anyone is interested PM me
Extra cap gone to good home!
Last release I bought was 2021 at $170. Passed last year.
This year the 2023 GTS will be $195 and the magnums $395. The magnums sell out very very quickly so if your on list and want one act quickly. This should be my swan song vintage. Ive gpot a bout a case aging and want one more from 23
I will be passing . Have bought on and off for 15 years or so. First bottle I can recall is 2007. Just too much $$$ for me and nobody in my house really drinks wine . Iām having a bit of FOMO.
Allocation was 3 bottles of GTS and I was able to wish list a 4th bottle. Thats all folks
Mine was 2 btw, and donāt think there was a WL option .
Wish list was granted so ended up with four. Two for me and Two for another WB. Its a wrap. I think ![]()
Just got an email that I made it off the wait list. I donāt even remember signing up but after going through my emails it looks like I did 4 years ago. Passed on Dorsey and going to have to pass on this as well.
