I had a bottle of 2008 Mount Fishtail Sauvignon Blanc chilling in the fridge that I planned on drinking tonight with non-wine geek friends. It’s a screwcap.
The bottle didn’t look right. Seemed to be a short fill (not that I remembered anyway). Hmmm My daughter just happened to walk by, and she told me that she added some white wine to a recipe a few weeks ago. 
Ok. No problem; but thanks for telling me.
Just for fun I tasted the wine.
I can now say for sure that once you open a screwcap, it does go bad. I’m a genius. 
I tasted this in the past and enjoyed it.
