I truly do not understand this wine. Very off putting chemical nose. Tons of VA. Stewed prunes, overripe fruit, is that marks a lot? 16.8% Alc and not integrated well at all resulting in a good burn. This is impossible to drink. Poured down the sink and I am sorry I have one more.
I agree. I tried the 2009 Bricco Babelico which was a Petite Syrah which came highly recommended from a wine shop. Upon opening the nose was riddled with massive amounts of VA. It was just undrinkable. Letting the wine sit for a day I thought it may blow off some of he volatile esthers as so often happens. No such luck. Poured down the drain and would not even use it for my red sauce that evening.
Not sure what all the hype is about here with Scholium. Flavor of the month syndrome??
It’s funny, we found two of these when we moved and it was never a wine of Abe’s I favored as we really prefer the big brother, simply called Babylon. Babylon was not made in 2006 which is why I think we ended up with some of these in the cellar.
Anyway our two bottles were great, full of lively fruit. This wine has Cab, Syrah and Pinot Grigio in there besides the PS. I have opened the 2012 this morning for BBQ tonight.
