so we’re just completing the post-mortem on the past weekend’s festivities up here in Sonoma and overall it was a pretty good event. including a Friday night kick-off party, we saw nearly 1200 come through our doors to try our 2008 barrel samples, a few of our newly bottled 2007s, and some terrific pasta created by our owner/executive chef Maria. while we were down a bit sales-wise compared to 2008 (as i’m sure most places were) the response valley-wide to the Savor Sonoma event was very positive.
for those ITB in Sonoma Valley who participated: what was your experience like?
for those not ITB: if you attended the event, what things did you enjoy and what aspects could be improved?
all suggestions and comments are welcome and appreciated.
Interesting… Almost half of my cellar is from Sonoma county and my favorite AVA to visit is Sonoma, yet I’ve never heard of this event. Just out of curiosity, how is the Sonoma Visitor’s Wine Bureau advertising this?
this is the 20th year of the event, and it was promoted by individual wineries who participated as well as HOSVA (Heart of Sonoma Valley Association). as far as how the Sonoma Visitors Bureau marketed the event, i’m not sure.
Hmmm… First time I’ve heard of HOSVA as well. I wonder if the Russian River Wine Road just has more money to get the word out.
I’m trying to remember how I originally heard about the Russian River Wine Road - but doing a google search says a lot, when searching “Sonoma Wine Tasting” the HOSVA website isn’t on the first three pages.
Before I found the wine boards my method of planning a trip to the area started with a Google search (which is probably the case for many)…
