Save the Date: SF East Bay Burg/Champagne Group Lunch - January 18, 2026

SF East or general Bay Area - date poll yielded Sunday, January 18 as the best date for the first round of what we hope will be a semi-regular gathering. Please see the spreadsheet here to sign up and if you know what you’d like to bring, add to the list!
Since it’s the first one and general feedback was to make it easy/open-ended, theme will be any (reasonable) Burgundy or Champagne you’d like to share, details on the spreadsheet. We can collaborate on the balance, etc. as the date approaches and discuss themes folks would like to participate in.
Reservation is for 12 noon at Great China in Berkeley, should this change I will update this post and the spreadsheet. It is currently for 8 seats. ***I will probably increase this if they are OK with it at the restaurant.

Erin, access to the sheet needs to be changed. Right now, it’s read-only and can’t be edited.

Consider this a “yes” to attending, and I’ll add my name once I can do so.

Fixed it! Thanks Larry!

I need to check this more often. Count me in for the 18th if there is still room!

Hey, I’m so sorry, it turns out that I will have family coming that weekend so I can’t make it. Will have to catch you guys on the next one!

My wife and I would love to join - but unfortunately also have friends coming that weekend, so will have to try to make a future session!

anymore space available for 2?

I actually wanted to check in on expectations: do we really want two bottles of wine per person? That seems like a lot (22 bottles for 11 people); I’m also wondering whether the restaurant and one table can handle that many bottles.

I put in a red Burgundy and a champagne since folks are putting in 2 bottles, but we may want to dial this back a little. Food for thought.

I planned on bringing one bottle. Most likely an '05 red (unless Erin would like me to bring a bottle of Duplessis :smiling_imp:)

Sorry for the confusion - no, 1 bottle per person. I’ll clarify on the S/S.

Twist my arm, Larry!

whoops! I’m still bringing the Carillon and leaving the Calsac at home

I see you on the spreadsheet and increased the table to 12, so we are capped at that count now. See you there!
