2005 Nigl Riesling Hochäcker - Austria, Niederösterreich, Kremstal (7/19/2014)
Yellow-gold in the glass; great nose with slate, ripe pineapple, minerality - really a lot going on here, and my descriptors don’t do this justice.
Bone dry and almost a little “salty” on the palate; sweet & sour white fruits, with decent persistence on the finish. Pretty likable right now.
Screw-capped.

2005 Nigl Riesling Privat - Austria, Niederösterreich, Kremstal (7/19/2014)
Light yellow in the glass; clearly lighter in color than the Hochacker. Nose has another gear to it as well, almost laser-focused, with crystalized pineapple - the Hochacker’s nose was great, and this is better!
Smooth on the palate, salinity, brisk acidity, a lot of tension here, “nervosity” I guess might be the word. I’m doing salmon on the grill this afternoon, and I think I will be enjoying both of these wines quite a bit.
Also screw-capped.
