I’m glad you felt the same way! I’m surprised that, as far as I know, only you, @Jenise_S, and I have ever mentioned Wenzlau sparklers here. They’re truly outstanding. I reached out to them through their website to invite them to participate in Berserker Day, but unfortunately, I never received a response.

Do you know with certainty that they are still in business and making wines? Their website says 2025 on the bottom but current releases are 2015 and 2017 . . .

They are still in business afaik. Their 2013 BdB LD and 2016 BdN were disgorged May 2024. Idk Justin from Tyler is still their estate winemaker, doesn’t hurt to shoot them an email.

Picked up my Wenzlau order today at the winery, Cindy told me they are retiring and there will be no more release from them aside from their library wine. @Warren_Taranow you should stock up on their current release before your favorite bubble runs out. It’s drinking lovely 1 year post disgorgement right now. I’m thinking of buying a few cases and have Cindy stash them at their cellar in Pasadena since I’m running out of space and self control.

Visited Loubud and I think it’s a fun place for bubbles and puzzle with friends. The bubbles are quite rich and creamy although they are on the lower brut, extra brut side. Not really my taste since I love racy bubbles that show the terroir and freshness. The BdN was my favorite but at $85 I’d rather drink Wenzlau, or hold out for Haliotide’s upcoming BdN from San Simeon.

That’s a shame. Do you know them personally? I’ll probably pick up a few bottles, though heaven knows I don’t need any more wine in the cellar.
