Need recommendations for reasonably priced (under$200) hotels in downtown S.F. for the middle of August. Daughter & 2 granddaughters visiting there for 4 nights. She is looking for something near Union Square, but really looking for any good deal in town. My search of this forum found only recommendations for higher priced places. Your expert opinions greatly appreciated.
Right off of Union Square. I’ve stayed there many times.
But I’ve found better deals using Priceline Name Your Own Price and BetterBidding.com for guidance. For example, just a year and a half ago, I was able to book the Hyatt Embarcadero for just $82 a night.
Second the priceline reco. Read through biddingfortravel.com and betterbidding.com for bidding methods (in short, if you want 4*, find zones with no 4* hotels and once your first bid is rejected you can add those zones in order to be allowed to bid higher). Last time we ended up at Westin Union Square which was fine.
Thanks for the information. My daughter needs a room with minimum 2 double beds and Priceline can’t guarantee the type of room.
Hotwire lets you book a room with 2 beds. I use it all the time. Use it in conjunction with betterbidding.com and you can almost always figure out what hotel you’re going to get.
