Sagrantino varietals in the US

Not only was this a nice wine, but one of my favorite labels of all time.

I don’t know, Deniers have been getting a lot of bad press in recent years.

An extremist faction of Bach fans in the 1700s were Handel Deniers.

It’s a new discovery for me on the Sagrantino - I heard they’re not the grape growers any longer but continue to source from the new owners of their old property in Dry Creek. I like the fruit-forward nature that is pretty nicely in balance with the other elements. Maybe people want more oak sometimes than this label normally uses? Hm. Interesting.

I visited Scacciadiavoli a few times between 2017 and 2019, and they had a very well-priced library dating from 2004 or so. Not sure what remains, but it might be worth emailing them.

A little shameless self-promotion here:
I was really happy to find this thread a few months ago, when I was getting ready to bottle my inaugural vintage of Sagrantino from the former Denier-Handal vineyard. Finished wine is here. I just released it to my mailing list so there’s a presale price through the weekend. Please drop me a line if you happen to buy a bottle - I’d love to know what experienced Sagrantino drinkers think of it.
Hope to see you all in January!

Saw this thread bumped. I loved the Harrington labels (and wines!). I think I still have a couple of bottles of the Sagrantino stashed away.

I wish I could have tried the Harrington Sagrantino — I was a year late to that party. It looks like we’re right on time for @K8Childers Camp Rose Cellars Sagrantino — Kaitlin, thank you for advising on this thread that you’re working with Sagrantino grapes from the former Denier Handel property. They were one of my go-to’s, and I’m looking forward to trying your “The Feast” Sagrantino bottling. Small world!
