The King of Veneto Wines.
I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1999 on a vacation to Lake Garda. His wines are still about the greatest I have ever tasted, the Amarone, the Recioto, the Recioto Bianco and the Alzero, not to mention a number of more everyday wines like the Valpolicella. dc.
Very sad. An amazing legacy of unique wines.
Yes.
Def. an icon. He will be missed.
My friends met and discovered him on a bike tour through Italy when he was known by no one. He gave them a full tour taste, dinner and they became friends. It wasn’t until years later he became so famous, but they were always able to buy anything they wanted from him directly. I know they are going to be sad over this.
Very sad news.
Very sad news, he was such a great winemaker and a gentlemen!
This is indeed sad news. His contributions to wine cannot be expressed with words, and it sounds like he was an exceptional all around person. May he RIP.
The world is a poorer place with his passing.
We met him at his winery in 2005 while he was bottling the Alzero, a charming and warm-hearted gentleman. It was a great visit, as you can imagine.
RIP. Easily my favorite producer…
