will be the last vintage. I just got a letter from Marcia saying that she’ll let Ken Wright take over starting with 2009. This is definitely sad news as it was one of my fav OR PNs and very nicely priced. It’ll also be very hard to pass up on this wine as 2008 is supposedly a great vintage up there, but money is tight.
The website

doesn’t seem to have the news yet, but it’s probably only a matter of time.
Peter, thanks for the elaboration here on the Voldemort board. Sad news indeed. Bryce apparently was a great guy and sorely missed by many around here. I wondered what would happen when he died, was glad to see the label carry on as it did.
they do mention it in the wine description:
2008 Bryce Vineyard Pinot noir (Advance Purchase)
It has been a wonderful seven years of winemaking at Bryce Vineyard. But it’s time to move on to the next chapter. Our last wine is the 2008 Pinot noir and it’s a real beauty.
No apparently about it, Vincent. The man didn’t know me from a load of bricks when first I met him but he always made it a point to seek me out at gatherings and he’d always take time to spend a few minutes with me when I’d visit the winery - if nothing else just to thank me for appreciating his wines. He was generous to a fault about his winemaking techniques, too.
The last time I saw Bryce was at the Carlton Wine Studio. He was in his damn chair and being pushed by Steven Westby, his successor at Witness Tree. I believe Marcia may have been there but I didn’t notice as I hugged him and immediately turned away so he wouldn’t see the tears in my eyes - which are there as I write this.
You’ll never meet a finer human being and I miss him.
Nice note Bob.
Bryce died at a time when he was really just getting on top of his game. He made beautiful wines and was a fantastic person, I would have loved to have done a vintage with him. Bless his soul.
I wrote “apparently” only because I never knew him. It was a set up for someone who did to tell that kind of story. I hoped that was clear.
