Roulot and Mugnier

  • 2006 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Luchets - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (7/1/2014)
At first sniff it smells a little nutty and advanced but it is not. It tightens considerably in the glass and whilst has the opulence and low acid feel of the vintage is still a fresh and vibrant wine. You get notes of honeysuckle and sappy white peach coupled with the lemon and mineral that you tend to always see in Roulot (unless of course you can’t identify with lemon and mineral aromas and flavours or can but never see them in Roulot). It has good shape and flesh and length is outstanding.
  • 2011 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (7/1/2014)
Expressive aroma of sweet cherry, dried flowers, earth and aniseed. It is generous, full and sweet in the mouth with lovely purity of fruit and plenty of floral spice. It is silky of texture and highly perfumed, building through the palate and fanning out on the finish. A pretty Nuits of great balance and poise.

Nice Jeremy. Appreciate the data point on the Mugnier. Realised that I bought some when stock taking yesterday.

Brilliant.

Far too much honesty in that quote Jeremy. Your street cred is likely to be diminished. [cheers.gif]

Nice notes Jeremy. I’ve found a few really nice white burgs from '06 - there is likely more out there that I will like . CHEERS

I always get more lime than lemon in Roulot…with plenty minerals and flint when young. flirtysmile

Not sure I had a lot of street cred to begin with Todd.

Jono, the better 06’s continue to drink really well. I drank most of mine young but have had a few beauties over the past 12 months.
