In the Barossa and heading to Rockford tomorrow morning. I tasted a couple of vintages of their Basket Press Shiraz earlier this week and was absolutely blown away… an archetype producer for others in the region. Not overdone and extracted, but uniquely Barossa.
Unfortunately, these are no longer available in the U.S. but wondering if others have experience w/ them and their thoughts?
Probably my favorite shiraz producer in Oz, certainly on a value basis. Their wines are beautiful, well balanced and age long and gracefully.
I’m heartbroken that they are no longer imported, but I have my sources ![diablo [diablo.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/f/f627e009b8e3ab2f6a76c9424f1156a53afc0e3f.gif)
Jon - I was there in March and absolutely adored the Basket Press - bought a few bottles to return with. It is also a very cool old building they use for the tasting room and you can see some of the antique equipment they still use to make the wine. Go down the road to Charlie Melton while you are there!
