Like most wineries that actually watch for shipping windows the people at RM probably planned on shipping later but since we’ve had cooler than normal weather they decided to send it on out. They didn’t really have a warning either but maybe an email would have been nice anyways.
Hi All, first post on the board here, +4 here. I received emails from Golden State Overnight but didn’t open them as I thought it was some sort of Spam. Anyway, I received both the Anthill and Rivers Marie today to my happy surprise.
As this is the first time I’ve purchased the wine, can someone familiar with the Rivers Marie cab describe the ideal drinking window? I’m assuming at least two years of sleep time, but any insight is appreciated. I’ve heard so much about the Rivers Marie pinots I decided to pull the trigger on the cab just to see what it’s all about…
Of course today turned out to be seasonally warm in So. Cal, with temps in the mid-80s at least. I wondered who had sent via GSO…5 cases of WineBid goodies show up tomorrow!!!
Welcome! I think 1-2 years should be okay. This cab is done in the bold rich/ripe style of Cabernet. Nothing like his pinot. I’d say a good chunk of airtime would be beneficial to this wine if you open it early. I’ve had the 06 twice in the past year and it’s basically tasted the same… even tho it was almost a year apart.
