An old wine buddy came to visit tonight. It’s been years, I instinctively grab a bottle of Jean Edwards sav blanc to start. So good, every time. Always delivers. Tonight my wife says….”Karen from Jean Edwards’ passed away”.
I reach for Jean Edwards often. Most major holidays, or like tonight, when a random old friend finds his way home. Try and find a Christmas Dinner where Karen’s wines aren’t present on our dinner table….c’mon I dare you.
I never met Karen in person. Damn I wanted too. I thought often of us tasting with her in the Napa, Jean Edward tasting room. We have bought cases of her wine over the years, but more than anything all we wanted to do was raise a glass with her. Since we won’t achieve that….Karen I raise a glass to you and (#56) tonight.
Thank you Berserkers, thank you Todd for introducing us to Jean Edwards and way more importantly thank you for introducing us to Karen!!
I am very saddened by this. Had the pleasure of meeting her a few times and enjoyed her wines. She was a great positive contributor to this forum
Our world is a lesser place
Sorry to read this and condolences to Karen’s family and friends. We have a bottle of Jean Edwards Cab in the wine fridge that we’ll use to toast to her memory soon.
Like others here, never met her in person buy did correspond via email. She set my group up well when we visited what is now many years ago. Always a pkeasure. Opened a 2019 syrah in her honor tonight to go with the tri-tip.
Oh no! So sad to hear, she was so nice and I appreciated what she did with her winery. And she was such a long time board member. I will miss her presence here and in wine.
Devastated to read this. I had so hoped to meet her and we came close a couple of times. She arranged for a wonderful tasting at the winery for me back in March. My sincerest sympathy and condolences to John and her family. I hope so much that her legacy of kindness and generosity will not be forgotten
This makes me so sad. I met Karen really on a whim when I stopped into the Jean Edwards room the only time I visited Napa in 2015. My wife and I loved her wines and she was so warm and friendly. What a loss.
