RIP Giacomo Tachis

Today, the Italian wine world mourns the loss of Giacomo Tachis, a winemaker who had a hand in creating some of Italy’s most iconic wines and who is widely credited as one of the chief architects of the Italian wine renaissance.

…creator of Antinori’s Tuscan superstars Sassicaia, Tignanello and Solaia, Giacomo Tachis is arguably Italy’s most renowned winemaker.

I think back to long ago and first hearing the name. And the wines it was associated with. I didn’t always care for the style of wines he created, but the Italian wine world was better for his efforts. Many restaurants across the country will be pouring Argiolas Turriga from a 3L on Wed Feb 10th. A wine he helped create. With his passing, this places even more emphasis on the wine.RIP

So sorry to hear this. I had a lot of admiration for him.
