Here’s a link to some new notes on the Grape-Nutz website from a June 27th visit to four of the Rhys Vineyards sites in the Santa Cruz Mountains and from tasting a number of their current and upcoming releases:
A Visit to Rhys Vineyards - June 27, 2009
What a great, in-depth report, Ken. Thanks a lot. Particularly interesting to hear that they’ve expanded the Home vineyard planting. I didn’t know that. I got to taste the '04, but my allocation has never included a bottle. Sounds like that might change someday.
I tasted the '06 Alpine in December and found the notes imparted by the stems to be quite dominant, both on the nose and the palate, so it’s very interesting to see that these have become more integrated in just the last half year. I’m sure it was fascinating to taste this next to the '07 to get a sense of what a little more time in bottle does with their style of winemaking.
