Order placed. Sadly, no Hillside or Horseshoe for me this time around (had to wish list for those), but I took my full allocation of 4 Alpine, 2 Swan Terrace and 2 Alesia Green Valley, and I threw in 6 of the Syrah for good measure.
For those who need a boost of self-esteem or affirmation, I notice that the “Title” field of the order form allows you to designate yourself “The Honorable,” “Captain,” “Chef,” and assorted other honorifics besides the traditional Mr. and Mrs. It is, however, missing a few options like “His Royal Highness” or “Grand Ayatollah,” so there is still room to expand the Rhys customer base.
Hope I luck out with some of those extra bottle requests…
It was a painful choice but I limited my order severely so I’d have someplace to put the wine. There’s some extra Alpine and Swan out there for you wishlist people…
Always an exciting day. This is the one mailing list that I buy from. Now I just need to decide how many of the Syrah I want. Hopefully I can snag some Horseshoe or Alpine Hillside from the wishlist, but I’m not optimistic.
2006 Rhys Alesia Syrah Fairview Ranch- USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (11/28/2009)
Intense nose of dark fruits, herbs, and roasted meat. Quite broad on the palate with admirable depth and complexity. Blackberries and herbs intertwine and create a juicy, spicy, and elegant package. Medium bodied. This will develop with time but is delicious now. (92 pts.)
Only because I have reduced the number of other mailers I will respond to (Rhys, Copain, and one or two others that consistently deliver).
The two Swan’s were a nice addition, but they sure do raise the price of admission. I guess 5 years from now when it’s safe to open one of those I will be glad I bit.
