Long story short, saw a bottle I liked, placed a bid without thoroughly reading the fine print, which included the notorious “light signs of past seepage.“
Of course, if I had noticed that, I would not have placed the bid.
The fine print on the website says that you cannot retract any bid once you make it. Just wondering if anyone has ever found a way to persuade them to make an exception or any such thing.
I think a good start would be asking them, not us

Just ask them. In the past they have been willing to offer a small number of retractions, lifetime, per customer.

They retracted a bid for me when I first started.
Contact a guy named Big Balls to wipe your identity with the SSA and start anew.
