Anyone dealt with these guys? Thanks, Corey
I haven’t really shopped there since David Lillie left to help found Chambers St. Wines but I was a regular pre-2001.
Always good
They have cold storage downstairs. The stuff from storage is perfect.
Only experience with them…lost my order for a few weeks and when they found it, the wine was sold out. They made a price adjustment so I was only out the lost opportunity.
Not a huge deal, just a data point for you.
2 web orders, no problems
My local store for many years. Good prices, sometimes better than good. Storage is reliable. There have been questions raised over deliveries sitting on the sidewalk during the summer, but (a) I do believe that they don’t sit out for too long, and (b) none of the wines I have bought from them - - spanning over two decades - - has ever been cooked. I also think that the owner (JP?) tries to do right by his customers.
One of my neighborhood stores. Wines are in perfect shape. Prices are rarely worse than competition, and often better, sometimes much better. Selection ebbs and flows, but often excellent. IMO, it’s the among the elite winestores in NYC - it has a great mix of geeky wines and mainstream wines, and a particularly strong under $20 selection. Its not going to have the trophy bottles of places like Crush or Flatiron (though it has some, and often at great prices) and it doesn’t have back vintages like Crush, Flatiron, CSW or Vintry. But if you want to get a nice bottle of wine that everyone will like and you’ll find interesting, it’s fantastic. Particularly strong in burgundy; the selection is idiosyncratic but really good - carries producers like Tremblay, Mugneret-Gibourg, Meo-Camuzet, and PYCM at W-S low prices.
I have bought from them a few times over the years without any problems.
Great store. My go-to source for wine in NYC for many years. The owner JR is a great guy who always comes through with excellent recommendations.
