retailer check: Chatham Wine in NJ

anyone ever use them?

Live in the town, and the few wine shops in town are tiny, mom & pop stores with limited selection, and not very competitive on price… sorry that’s not very helpful in terms of quality of service/overall reputation though… also, worth noting there seems to be two shops that could fit the bill as well as they both have chatham and wine in the store name… but only one appears to have a web presence

the web for the store is winehunter.com

Ok, I know the store, though I only have been in one time… relatively small beer/wine/liquor store in a strip mall… I doubt there’s anything to worry about from a reputability issue, as they have been there for some time… but I was not compelled enough by price or selection to be a regular shopper there… however, I have wine library and gary’s 5 minutes down the road in either direction so its difficult to compete with them on price or selection…

I’m curious though if perhaps the shop has more to offer than I realize… have you seen some interesting deals or hard to find wines on there?

Kevin says it’s a small store in a strip mall, but they list more than 5000 wines according to WS. Sounds to me like someone else has jumped on the “let’s stick our distributor lists on the web” strategy. Suzanne, I’d be interested if you call or email whether they actually have the wine in store, or “hope to find it”.

I spoke with PJ today. They have a listing for a champagne that is the lowest price in on WS-pro.
I will let you know if they come thru with the 18 bottles I purchased today.

bad news price listed as a 750 was for a 375.
order cancelled nevermind

That is what they do. I noticed on WS that they had a wine I was interested in and figured I would grab it one day when I was in the area. My wife was in Chatham and stopped by the store, they didn’t have the wine and the sales person was not helpful and sort of rude. Will not be going there again.
