Rest in Peace Hank Gillespie

Sad news, and a terrible loss for this community and his family. RIP.

That just sucks.
RIP Hank

I think Hank was quite a Mel fan.

I’ll miss his presence here for this if nothing else. RIP.

Oh man.
So sad.
Will miss him.
Perhaps he and Ron Kramer will have a drink together.

RIP Hank

RIP Hank. Enjoyed his posts and community here and on eBob.

Like others here I am very sad to read of Hank’s passing. While only knowing him from here at WB it seemed to me that he had retirement wired and just oozed cool in some ways.

So lucky to have had him as a friend, so sad that he is gone. [cry.gif]

RIP Hank and condolences to his family and friends. I did not meet Hank, but enjoyed his posts regarding hockey and college basketball, as well as wine. As others have noted, he brought a certain eloquence, civility and sensibility to his posts here and when he posted on the Parker BB.

Thanks,
Ed

So sad. I always enjoyed his posts. Reminds us all to live our lives the best way we can. I know everyone here is doing it right.

RIP Hank- we never met, but after years on the forums together and a number of conversations I can safely say you are good as it gets. You will be sorely missed.

Wow. With tears literally in my eyes. Not how I wanted to end my night. I had what I consider to be a true and genuine privilege, to meet Hank and Lorraine at their friend Richard Beeken’s house in Edmonton. It is a night I have not forgotten, filled with conversation on just about every topic. I loved talking jazz, basketball and wine with him, then and always, and I always hoped we’d get in some tennis together. Lorraine, my heart does go out to you and the whole family—I know how proud Hank was of all of his childrens’ accomplishments in particular and how he valued his friends, both in Tuscon and Edmonton in particular. I truly hope he is looking down on all of us from a good place. I will miss him very, very much.

I’m really sad to hear of Hank’s passing as I always enjoyed his posts and contribution to the forum. RIP Hank.

Farewell Hank. We never met but I enjoyed reading his posts over the years and I’m thankful for his and everyone’s contributions to this community.

I just saw this. Hank was a real gentleman. He loved jazz and wine. Loved to combine the two. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. There were lots of good times in the past discussing great wines and great music. My condolences to his family and close friends. RIP. A life well lived.

So sorry to hear this. His posts were always worth reading. RIP.

Sad news indeed. Jon, thanks for passing it along. I enjoyed some of the PLCB debates with Hank back on eBob. He was quite knowledgeable about Alberta’s alcohol privatization. As Don and others have said…“a real gentleman”. He’ll be missed.

The Wine Cellar was one of the original privatized stores here in Edmonton. I will be visiting in memory of Hank this afternnoon.

Very sorry to read this. He was such an interesting guy. There was a topic that he and I argued about back on the Squires board, but when Mark deleted my post, he rose to my defense. Always enjoyed my interaction with him, even when we disagreed. Rest in peace, Hank.
