Reprise of Xmas Dinner

Tonight’s dinner was a reprise of our our Xmas Dinner. Thick slices off of our Prime Rib Roast, with au jus, and the rest of our steamed chard; all enjoyed with an older Burgundy. The wine was a 1976 Domaine Armand Rousseau Mazy-Chambertin - fill a cm & a half below the cork; soft, fully saturated very lon cork; light ruby garnet in color initially, darkening to a rich garnet in the glass; rich red and black fruit in nose & flavors; light mid-palate with low acidity; initially not much finish, but developing into a pleasant fruity finish with time in our glasses. It, even with the low acidity, was enjoyable with the rib roast.

Then to finish we had for dessert, the brie en croute with fruit, very enjoyable with a 1993 Ridge Zinfandel,Alegria Vineyard - fill less than a cm below the cork. cork only stained up less than 1/8 inch; rich spicy dark fruit in nose & flavors; balanced mid-palate with fruit and acidity; and a long dark berry fruit finish. It was very enjoyable as a finish to tonight’s dinner.
