Gout is caused by deposition of uric acid crystals within a joint and can be exacerbated by all types of alcohol. But it’s from uric acid specifically and not “inflammation” in general. It is also not what the OP has.
There are certainly people with various types of inflammatory arthropathies (Rheumatoid, IBD associated, Lupus, Psoriatic, etc.) for whom alcohol can be a trigger, but the degree of impact varies from person to person.
As someone whose recently discovered my foot issue the last few years was gout I represent this. I seem to do fine with wine. But a beer or two and I can feel it in my left foot the next morning
Thanks for your input, folks.
I’ll stay off of wine/alcohol for the next week or so, and slowly re-introduce it to attempt a more compelling cause/effect.
It may just come our to be, with wine…my body no longer wants me to be a daily drinker.
Bummer, but I’ll survive.
