I happened to post this question in the thread on a Georges Noellat wine, where it was remains unanswered.
I know there are a few Burgundy domaines and/or negociants where older wine is buried in the cellar and then “reconditioned” with new corks, labels, etc. The resulting wines have received wildly divergent reviews. Does anyone know if the French authorities regulate the practice; i.e., is “topping off” allowed, and if so, must it be with newer wine of the same origin and pedigree, and in what quantity?
Other than Noellat, I believe Joseph Voillot sometimes sells “reconditioned” wines.
