A very stained and messy label reveled a beautiful chablis. Fill level was normal. No signs of seepage.
Started our a little flat/fat but gained acidity and structure as it sat opened.

Another 2010 Rollin sous Fretilles was up there with my other best bottles . When not premoxed it’s a great wine
On the other hand a 2014 Rollin cloux was disappointing and not showing much
I really enjoy C. Moreau; they remind me of Raveneau. Not so chablisienne, but just great white Burgundy.

Very bullish take from Jasper Morris on 2022 Whites following the annual White Burg Fest tasting.
- ”For the last decade 2014 has been held up as the shining example of a great white burgundy vintage, with 2017 and 2020 the nearest rivals. Perhaps now 2014 has the most complete challenger to date with the 2022 vintage.”
I am a big fan of the vintage and will look forward to following the development in bottle.

That’s a shame @maureen_nelson. I really like the Eric Forest wines and have had lovely bottles of 20 La Roche, 21 Clos des Charles and 21 Les Crays. I find they present similarity to many 1er Chassagnes with a mix of lemon, mandarin and other yellow/orange citrus fruits.

A similar color and nose for both, VV maybe with a touch more flint. Regular on the richer side, round, fine, but not terribly distinctive. More Meursault than Rully, similar and on par with some recent Chards in the same price bucket, such as Fichet, Grivault, Boccon …
VV a bit unruly at first, with some reduction and a subliminal trace of carbonic fizz which dissipated fast. Improves with air, developing complexity and finesse. Looking forward to day 2.

We dodged premox on these (the producer is hit and miss with premox). The 2020 was lovely and joins the long and growing list of 2020 white burgs I’ve really enjoyed.

Tasted blind. Broader nose than the 2020 next to it. Fuller and chewier. Bright and expressive also. Over time the palate fattened and developed an unpleasant bitterness. 92 (92 points)

Two excellent white Burgundies on the weekend.
Carillon Bienvenue Batard Montrachet 2014: Bright colour with still a hint of luminous green. Quite a riot on the nose – crushed rocks, lime zest, cream and flowers. Still very young though not overtly closed. Savoury, strict grapefruit character on the palate alongside all of the complexities from the nose. Opens up slowly in the glass. Structured and still a bit imposing. Should’ve decanted. Still on its way up.
Sauzet Batard Montrachet 2007: Good lighter gold colour. Very mineral and lemon zest nose, barely any caramelisation. Elegant in the mouth, good acids with medium intensity. Savoury, hint of nuts, citrus dominates over a little bit of orchard blossoms and fruit. That citrus line provides great freshness and liveliness. Ready.
