This might just get my vote for the most compelling nose of 2026 so far. Just an astonishing animale/sauvage/barnyard mixed with wildly seductive, slutty dark fruits + big perfumey florals. As flamboyant as any burg nose I can recently think of — big, feral, ultra-ripe fruits. If you have any sense of shame, you avert your eyes from anyone else’s when you have a mouthful — It feels like you are taking pleasure from an obscenity. This wine is the equivalent to a blonde Playboy centerfold from 1998 with huge breast implants but still somehow registers as a 14 on the 10 scale anyway. If anyone else knows where there is more of this stuff for sale, PLEASE let me know. If you have any, I’d be happy to buy it from you for a premium - 97 points.

I had a 2015 of this a few months ago at a tasting. It held its own with a 2004 DRC Richebourg and was clearly better than some other grand cru and premier crus from more hyped producers. Just a beast of a wine, so would love to try it with more age.

He’s improved considerably in the past few years. A 17 from Jero was one of the stars of the Paulee event at Hip Hop last year. But his older stuff is not very good.

Agree with that view Tom, this one feels like it’s more a function of winemaking than appelation.
Recently had these wines with some good friends. The Griotte was amazing. Plush, sensuous, mysterious and silky. But, at $1200 is it worth the money? The Cazumet Clos de Vougeot was also incredible. It had held up so well, and felt fresh and very elegant. My friend paid $125 around 2002. Now? The Dugat was a challenge. Some of my friends liked it. I found it so backwards, and so difficult to assess. Not a fun bottle for me, and not worth over a grand. In my book. Though off topic, the Dauvissat Le Forest Chablis was gorgeous! I love both red and white Burgundies, and have been enjoying them since the mid 1980’s when they were inexpensive. I remember drinking a great vintage of Leroy Musigny, with perfect bottle age, for under $100. And a great vintage of Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche, for $55. Those were the days!

You beat me to it. I started my burgundy life earnestly in mid-1990s…as I unloaded nearly all my possession of Bordeaux wines which were rated by Parker at 99 and/or 100 points from vintage 1982, 1986, 1989 and 1990.
• 2012 DRC Corton Prince Florent de Merode.
This was slightly less rewarding than the 2022 Echézeaux we had a couple of months ago, but still a great bottle of wine. For tedious and unimportant reasons, I ended up pairing this with grouper and lobster mashed potatoes — and it worked, much to my surprise. The DRC, it can do anything.
From CT note:
It looks older than it tastes: light red color with the beginnings of transparency at the edges. Sour cherry, cranberry, strawberry on the nose. Some damp and funky sous bois, wet autumn forest like. Something like leather and a touch of an herb that was part mint, part tarragon, and a dose of white pepper too. Very strong chalk/slate minerality that goes all the way right to its very long finish. Copious tannins that still have a way to go before being completely integrated. Decades ahead of it and will definitely improve from here.

I don’t think Parker was necessarily wrong about those Bordeaux vintages. I have had some excellent '82s, '86s, '89s, and '90s Bordeaux that are not overdone or Parkerized in the least.
'82 Pichon Lalande and '89 Haut Brion are killer wines, for example, for all palates.

Thanks for message. I agree with your comments…and thanks to Mr. Parker who introduced to wines in the early 1980s. Meadows changed my direction to burgundy around mid-1990.
Bordeaux, after 1989 and 1990, had 3 terrible years from 1991, 1992 and 1993. 1994 was a so-so year. But when 1995 came, the price jumped 50%…high than 1994.
To cut the long story short and for some unknown reasons, I found burgundy wines to be more UN-predictable and it is more complex. Whereas a Bordeaux will always be there…
As an old-timer in ParkerWineB…I learned Burgundy from Meadows and changed my direction to Burgundy and stay there until now…
The only Petrus I opened for myself was that 1991 or 1992; despite I participated in the most of annual Bordeaux Release Tastings offered by the SAQ in Montreal, Quebec from 1980 to mid-1990. ..
I have a few bottles of 1995 Merode Corton. I have no expectation of DRC level quality, but wonder if they are in the drinking zone now.

I have no direct experience on this one, but at age 31, I’m guessing they should be in a good place.
I’ve got some bottles of the 2005 Merde Renardes. If it performs anything like the 2005 Jadot Corton Pougets I had recently, it will need eons more time.

2009 Combe d’orveaux…right out of the gate I knew it would be special. Very musigny and less chambolle…this was just stellar with red fruit and long finish. Initially had some vosne like spice which makes sense given clavelier’s holdings.
The first 2009 I’ve had in awhile that was less big on fruit and more nuanced. Not sure if 2009 wines have evolved or it’s more producer dependent but this was a total hit.

The1988 was drinking well, with the characteristic angularity of the vintage.

I’ve heard this wine does significantly better in warm vintages.
I made note a couple of months ago from the same stuff from 2010 and it was certainly less glowing than your review here. A pretty stingy wine, actually, on the nose and the palate.

2018 JM Millot Suchots- Ripe but not overdone. Sappy, full bodied yet not jammy. A tad simple for the plot but the price isnt Grivot or Lachaux so its fair. Really digging this producer for her consistency and drinkability factor. Cheers

SAQ has his Richebourg 2021; Charmes 2021 and NSt.G - Les St.Georges 2021 on the shelves and they more normally.
