Recent red burgundy vintage experiences

That must have been earlier in the spring?

Agree. I will re-visit..the entry level first in Sporing 2027 and then again 2028.

Naaah, it was late November.

Be VERY careful if you ever order off that interface where you order right off the Wine-Searcher search results page. There is no way to set up a ship date, and no way to contact customer service after you order to tell them to hold for good weather. They ship immediately after you order and there isn’t a goddamned thing you can do about it. ONLY order through that interface if conditions are perfect for shipping right at that minute.

You can just go to the website of that business. Often the price is lower than that direct purchase portal.

This particular interface had no website. It wasn’t an obviously separate business. It is WS’s own sort of ‘white label’ storefront right on their own site, the customer service and (it appears) the order fulfillment is done by some entity called Flaviar.

It’s wine empire. You can go directly to their website.

A friend brought a ‘72 Dujac BM to my house for dinner a few years ago and it was one of the most delicious bottles of wine I have ever drunk.

That sounds amazing, I’m a big fan of old Dujac.

She got half a case of it at a fundraising auction at her son’s school (St Albans). Some parent on his second family had donated it (along with six bottles of a 1972 Hospice de Beaune cuvee - can’t remember which) and no one bid against her so she got the entire case for $600!

It is amazing…wish I live in US the A.

Sad…the provisional Monopole in the Great Up North by the name of : SAQ…dictates and controls… how one should enjoy his wine life - LOL.

Somewhat muted on both the nose an palate, stingy even. Subtle aroma of dark fruits, plums, a hint of spice, a hint of barnyard. Soft tannins, nice mouthfeel, but not as nice as the Gevrey Chambertin VV. The flavors are quite noble and balanced, I just wish I could turn up the volume several notches. I wonder if it would become more generous with more bottle age? 89

I think the wine was intimidated by the bear

Gosh I love 1985s!!

2008 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny (5/6/2026)
Last drunk 2012. Wow, this is so light in body and fruit weight, yet it is tremendous… woke up a little blank, then with air so much red cherry, red clay, spice, and aromatic wood. The gaminess from 2012 has resolved. This wine was weightless, yet so chock full of Chambolle essence, like some quantum thing is going on. I’ll say it one more time light bodied and dreamy! So glad to have a Musigny and an Amoureuses lurking! (94 pts.)
Agreed Charlie. Beautiful wine

2022 William Kelley Gevrey Chambertin Aux Etelois

This was a masterpiece of a young wine, with ripe red and dark cherry fruit bursting from the glass, along with some deep rich earth. The palate was plush with beautiful filigreed texture but with a backbone of acidity and iron. There was great intensity and punch on the mid palate building into a strong finish. Just tremendous.

Does anyone have recent experience with the 2008 Fourrier Griottes? A friend of mine who has a similar palate has described 2008 Fourriers as being thin and acidic in general.

I have the opportunity to buy some so would appreciate any thoughts from this group.

Not with the griottes but we had the 08 CSJ recently. I wouldn’t be going out of my way to source the 08 griottes unless it was a really good price but that’s just my opinion.

Or was that a bretty bottle while this one is not?

Thanks @MChang, appreciate the feedback. About AUD750 (USD540) per bottle so below current retail pricing but not exactly a bargain. Good provenance however.
