2005 Jean-Louis Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru (2/25/2012)
Some cheesey leesy action at first along with some nougat nuttiness. With air it breathes up beautifully and is quite direct and detailed. It has deliciously crunchy, pure white peach and pear fruits and a strong line of minerality. It has a hint of honey and toast development, is full and round in the mouth and possesses good cut to the finish.

2005 Jean-Louis Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru (2/25/2012)
Not fully blown premox but not as it should be. Plenty of honeysuckle and a little nutty. Aromas and flavours are blunt.

2008 A. et P. de Villaine Bourgogne Blanc Les Clous - France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Bourgogne Blanc (2/18/2012)
Quite honeyed on the nose with some blossom notes and plenty of fliny mineral. In the mouth it has quite breezy acidity pinging around the gums and some fruit flavours that are broad with a slight tropical edge. It tightens in the glass and finishes quite sappy, lean and sinewy.

1999 Yves Boyer-Martenot Meursault Les Tillets - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (2/17/2012)
oxidised

2009 Domaine Jean Chauvenet Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Argillas - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (2/17/2012)
Sarsaparilla root, cola, marshmallow, coal, camphor and cedar are oak derived aromas and flavours and there are loads of these in this wine. There some sweet, creamy cherry fruit as well. It is low acid with quite chewy tannins on the finish. It is really hard work at this stage and the only real redeeming feature was a pleasant waft of flora.

2008 Domaine Dublère Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru (2/25/2012)
Light and lacy, fresh and fragrant, if you want raw power and extract look elsewhere. It has pronounced cherry and mineral aromas and flavours, has a nice sweet heart and finishes with a touch of astringency along with some tart berry crunchiness.

2001 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin (2/26/2012)
Plenty of pine needle sap, meat, moss and undergrowth to the aroma at first. This wine really breathes up in the glass and intensifies in sweetness from the heart. It has good intensity of cherry and blackberry fruits countered nicely by the savoury nuance. It is generous and plush of texture with good cut.

Cheers

My experience with Chavy from 2005 and 2006 are similar to this experience.

Jeremy:

Nice notes as always. Agree on the 08 Villaine Les Clous; it’s a great little QPR performer and ages well. The 2000 and 2001 are really in a lovely place now. Haven’t had the 2001 Bachelet VV, but the Charmes was very nice if a bit young late last year.

Thanks, Jeremy. That Volnay sounds delightful – right up my alley. I’m not familiar with the producer. Have people got opinions to share on them and their style?

have only had one oxidised Chavy, which was a half of Puligny last week, but that might be expected. All of my 750s of 04s, 05 and 06 have been perfectly sound.
