Ready to drink young Yquem

89 is superb now. I’ve had about 8 bottles in the last couple years.

So wine appreciation is subjective?

Who woulda thunk it

Love the 2011. Or, for something less expensive try 2016 Climens

If you’re looking for some younger wines of Château d’Yquem that are ready to drink, I’d recommend focusing on a few from the early 2000s to the 2010s. While these wines age incredibly well and can evolve over decades, some of them are already showing great complexity and balance while still being quite approachable.

I especially would reccomend the wines from the year 2001 and 2009!

01 and 09 yquem are nowhere near ready. I’ve opened probably a half dozen halves of 01 and 09 in the last couple years and regretted it every time.

I would be opening 13, 98, 11, 06, stuff like that.

Agree very much with 98. 96-99 are all pretty solid, especially from .375. I’ve drunk 98 perhaps 5 times and it really delivers for its age.

Haters will say its too young…At Yquem, however, they do pour 'em young.

It’s actually not drinking awful now but would be one of the last bottles in my cellar I’d pull atm.
