re: CACHE in Santa Monica-new restaurant

Went to Cache last night, it has replaced the place that was called Hidden, in the former space where Schatzi on Main once was…Executuve Chef here is Josiah Citrin from Melisse and the main chef -Nyesha Arrington-comes from his place also-she worked a Lemon Moon and Joel Robuchon’s Atelier in Las Vegas.

Cache has a great beach atmosphere-the bar and lounge have lots of couches and the patio is great fun-we sat next to the patio in a small section that was quieter.

Service was spotty: for us it was very good as we gave our server lots of our wine( brought an Aubert Chard. and Hillside Select) so that helped. I noticed a table not too far away get up and leave as they never were waited on after 5 minutes…

Foodwise, lots of small plates. We had the Carmelized shallot, arugula and brie flatbread, which was outstanding. Also ordered the mushroom crostini, not memorable at all. Entrees were an excellent small filet and scottish salmon with capers, both good.

Overall I think I’d recommend it, since it was the second week it was open they need to tighten things up a little, a bit pricey but great vibe here. Corkage is $ 25.00.
