OK boys and girls, my house, 52 Sammis Lane, White Plains (you can check it out on the satellite view on Google maps so you don’t get lost). Saturday, May 15, time TBD but probably mid afternoon til the last person leaves. Train from Grand Central or points north to White Plains or Harrison. If you drive, bring a designated driver, as there will be lots of alcohol.
Random thoughts:
- Stems: Hopefully the locals will bring some, but I will count mine. I have a lot, but not enough.
- Please indicate your interest in attending either in this thread of via PM to ME.
- Wine theme - Let me know if you have suggestions other than “Bring the best damn wine you want to share with others.” Unless I hear something better, I like the anarchy theme.
- Money? I’ve never charged for people to come to my house, so I have no ideas on this issue. Maybe I’ll take up a collection for the Flannery steaks. I’ve got to give that some thought.
- Lobster or steamed clams as a first course? I steam a case of lobsters for the annual Legal Aid picnic. Anyone up for a first fish course?
- Waiting list - not to worry, between the inevitable cancellations and me not wanting to leave people out, I expect everyone will be included, so start lining up those plane reservations.
- Hotels - you know, if you go to the PDH event Friday, it will probably be a lot cheaper to come to White Plains Friday night after the event and stay there than to stay in NYC. You can check the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza.
- I invited Gary Vaynerchuk, who would be perfect for this group. He wanted to come, but unfortunately, that day is his grandmother’s 90th birthday, so he can’t make it. I have also invited a number of other luminaries, like Antonio Galloni, Christian Dalbavnie from Maison Thunevin and the owner of the largest pate supplier on the east coast. If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know. How about Parker and Jancis Robinson in the same back yard? Or Parker and Laube?
- Menu: I will change this every week between now and May 15, but for now, this is what I am thinking about. Smoked brisket, pulled pork and Carolina cole slaw sandwiches, wild mushroom risotto, deep fried turkey, fresh NY cheeses, chocolate cheese cake, maybe lobsters or steamed clams as a first “course”. Land Critters From Bryan Flannery. If you have suggestions, please toss them out.
- The only thing I can’t make is fresh wood fired pizza on the BGE. I am definitely pizza challenged. The dough always sticks to everything in the house and then the pizza stone (suggestions will not help, I have tried them all!).

I have 2 Webers, a large BGE, and an outside deck that is large by NY burb standards, although it does not match the veranda in the TV show Dallas. I also have a large propane stove that worked fine as a turkey fryer over Labor Day. The only problem is that I have a swimming pool that I will keep closed to avoid you drunks throwing someone in the pool.
