Wine Spectator reporting that Quixote winery has been sold to Chinese investors for around $29 million. Not a big surprise since Quixote has been on/off the market for a couple of years. We have enjoyed Carl’s petite sirah wines for many years starting at SL Winery then moving to the Quixote label and we are eagerly looking forward to his next petite sirah project.
I wonder how long Aaron will stick around…either on his own accord or a desire to change the direction of the winemaker for the new owners/market.
Sad to me. As was his sale of SLW. But he is 81. Time to rest a little. SLW and Ridge are the 2 long-running top quality PS producers.
I wonder how Chinese people pronounce Quixote. The x is sort of a “zsh” sound in Chinese.
That is prime cab turf - I just hope they don’t rip out all the petite sirah - there is less and less of it and the Quixote fruit has been exceptional over the years.
